My Creative Loves - Flowers

Those who know me well can attest to the fact that I LOVE flowers. So much so, that when I'm walking down the street I often stop to take a closer look at flowers that catch my eye.

This abrupt mid-walk stopping usually leaves my poor husband lamenting the fact he married a women with the distractibility of a squirrel. I guess flowers are my nuts.

The thing I find so unbelievably amazing about flowers is that they begin as tiny brown seeds and bulbs that have no discernible outward appearance of life - but given enough time and care, they transform into magical colour filled living things.

This reminds me of the creative process. Often when we make art or create something, it begins as a tiny brown idea, but given enough time and nurturing - that idea can grow into something filled with colour and magic.

Whenever I am feeling impatient with the processes of creating something or learning music (which happens quite frequently), I look at my flowers, and remember what is possible with a little time and sunlight.
